This workshop addresses people who work in educational settings and already have some experience with NVC in this field: teachers, headmasters and parents, who are interested in implementing NVC in their home, classroom / school / system..

Topics: In the workshop we will explore, how to include students in decision making and how to deal with situations when agreements are broken. We will practise, how to...

  • build communication skills which support us in living our values of co-operation and care while teaching the curriculum
  • create a climate of inclusion and co-operation.
  • decision making in groups
  • react and deal with frustration in a way that leads to learning and growth.

NVC 's pedagogy  is built on independence and mutuality to be developed in parallel. This can in short mean to clearly speak for yourself and at the same time consider how your actions will affect others. This view attracts many teachers and yet it is not a simple dynamic to live and encourage in a group with many differences, needs and wishes, combined with a busy schedule. To communicate and work in a way that contribute to children´s growing skills in basic democracy while teaching your subject need some attention and practice. We will provide that opportunity to practise in this workshop! And to connect with other people’s experience with NVC in schools and education. Prerequisite: At least 6 days of NVC-practise in workshops or practising groups

About NVC in Education Europe

NVC in Education Europe is an initiative to serve the development of Nonviolent Education in European school systems.

The initiators to NVC in Education Europe are CNVC certified trainers Marianne Göthlin, Louise Romain and Towe Widstrand. After years of connecting and sharing NVC with school people in European countries and discovering many projects and efforts, we want to contribute to a more focused and effective way of approaching and implementing NVC in learning environments at an academic level as well as in daily work in schools.

Communication plays an essential role in learning processes and Nonviolent Communication (NVC) can guide that practice. NVC values and attitudes can form the basis for democracy and foster responsible members of society by means of education. We have a vision to share the communication necessary to bridge differences, support co-operation and build mutual respect and to contribute to more democracy in learning environments.

NVC in Education Europe has the intention to pool resources, share experiences, and create and support teams. Our first event to move in this direction took place in France, the 3rd-9th of May 2010 with 50 participants from 14 countries. The second event was held in Bremen, Germany in 2011. We intend to make this a yearly event in various European places.  Read about projects, reports and results that were presented. Next event is planned to take place in Timisoara, Romania, 30th April – 5th of May 2012.

We see different repeating activities which contribute to our vision:

  1. Continuing deepening NVC training for trainers with the intention to share NVC in school environments
  2. NVC Training for teachers – how to apply NVC in everyday school life
  3. Inviting school authorities and general public to introductions and sharing of vision, experiences, evaluations and possibilities
  4. Developing the website as a connecting point and source for information and inspiration

Our intention is to focus on education in Europe and the special conditions under which we work in these school systems as well as to co-operate with the vision of the European Union of Peace.

Our wish is to further develop this website to serve these aims.
